February 24, 2008, 10:34 pm : Bye bye Movements!
If you came out last night… thanks. We had a great time. I don’t remember us playing ‘Semi Finals’ that well for quite a while. Shame about the projections being hidden away in a corner, but I hope it was entertaining enough without them. For the second time in a week, someone came up to us after the show and said we’re “the best aerobics band since the Vengaboys”, or words to that effect. Praise indeed, we’re genuinely chuffed.
Last night was the the third anniversary of the start of our world tour, kinda. Scary huh. The dates don’t match up exactly, but the three year point is creeping up. So, it seemed like a good time to put a few songs in the past, specifically ‘Switch It On’ and ‘Movements’. Alice has now left Leeds for sunny Dublin, and Andrew and I feel that these two songs are quite often difficult to soundcheck, and also don’t really fit with the set as a whole, or the kind of direction we are going in. Last night was probably your last chance to hear them, but I’m actively working on new tracks to replace them, and we hope to debut a few at our next gig at the Faversham on March 15th.
Speaking of gigs, you could do worse than get tickets for Futuresonic. If you’re gonna miss Felix Kubin’s Leeds gig (please don’t miss Felix Kubin’s Leeds gig if you can help it), you will be able to catch him at Futuresonic, along with Zombie Zombie, Venetian Snares, Chromehoof, Gay Against You, Luke Vibert and… Printed Circuit. It’s a five-day event at the beginning of May, and we’re playing on Monday 5th. See you down the front.
Andrew and I are involved in putting on quite a few gigs in the near future. Here’s a quick rundown.
- March 18th - Felix Kubin at the Brudenell Social Club (linky)
- March 22nd - Funder Strikes Easter party with Gay Against You and APATT (another linky)
- April 19th - Funder Strikes with DJ Donna Summer (Jason Forrest) and Bilge Pump (hyar)
