September 21, 2006, 6:52 pm : Slap my laptop
A little sad news for you all: please join Roly in mourning the loss of my purple Sony VAIO laptop, which has been so loyal and faithful for most of my serious touring activities. It struggled through its’ bad sectors pretty valiantly. The most upsetting thing about passing the VAIO on will be losing the collection of stickers plastered all over it - this collection includes most of the greatest sticker finds on the world tour last year. I’ll post some pictures up as an obituary soon. The VAIO has been replaced by an HP Pavillion with glowstick styling. Me and Alice are pretty into rave and glowing things right now so it seemed pretty apt.
So: new laptop, new school year… and the world of PC may go quiet for a few weeks as I begin my BSc in internet stuff (only 7 years late) and re-shuffle my house and lifestyle accordingly. I have got at least one new song for my gig with Metronomy on October 11th, for which Alice and Andrew should be joining me for live-show purposes, so fear not; the third album is plodding along in the background. I am looking for a label for it. Alice’s vocals will become ever more evident and there should be some exciting new twists and turns in song direction. Now we are housemates, we should have enough time to make it happen. Here’s hoping!
And let’s finish with a little recommended listening: CSS ‘Cansei De Ser Sexy’ and Peaches ‘Impeach My Bush’ are well worth eight quid of your student loan.

September 5, 2006, 4:44 pm : Dee-jee set at September Strangeways
I’ll be DJing at the next Strangeways at Wire in Leeds, which is on Friday 15th September. You can see details on the new Strangeways flyer. PartyParty is myself and Jonny playing synth pop, 80s pop and 90s dance as well as the best non-pretentious electro. You’ll get a sneak preview of the set in my podcast (to be recorded any day now!), or just come along - I’ll be doing alternate songs from 2-4am.
