August 28, 2006, 3:55 pm : Podcasts
I’m starting a series of podcasts over on the Catmobile Records website soon, featuring DJs and artists who have very good (and diverse) taste in music. We’re recording the first few now, and I’ll be doing one as well, to be broadcast sometime in the next couple of weeks. You’ll be able to listen on the site, download as mp3 or subscribe to the series via iTunes.
For those who missed it, Andrew and myself were interviewed in Brighton last year for a Flat Four Radio/ Resonance FM podcast/ broadcast about computer game music (’chiptunes’). You can download all four episodes in the series from the Flat Four Radio website. (They have recently put up an interview with Amanda from Data Panik too).

August 22, 2006, 12:24 am : Feature in Plan B, and Japan-only EP
I’m in the process of doing an interview for the October issue of Plan B magazine. It’s a featurette on ‘The Sound of the Wonderful Technique’, in a track-by-track style. I’ve never done an interview in this style before, so I hope it turns out well and is interesting to people who have heard the CD, as well as those who havn’t.
I can also announce the details of the next PC release… a 3″ CD EP on Duotone Records of Tokyo. It will be part of the Music for Pleasure series, which my labelmate I Am Robot and Proud has also contributed to! Exciting. It will have exclusive tracks, and will be extremely limited, but I should have some copies to sell.
Speaking of which; I will try to set up the new shop tomorrow… Printed Circuit vinyl stickers and larger-than-normal 38mm badges will be available!

August 15, 2006, 10:05 am : More album news
‘The Sound of the Wonderful Technique’ has finally appeared on Amazon.com. I imagine this is thanks to Darla. Unfortunately it’s $20, but at least it’s on there. And, some of the new songs are starting to creep onto Last.fm.

August 13, 2006, 10:25 pm : Data Panik last night
Last night I was at the Faversham to see one of my favourite bands, Data Panik, playing at my friends’ wedding. Many thanks to Mofette for the sweaty pic and to Adam & Jo for a totally ace day out (Adam, Jo and myself all met through going to see bis in our teens - reminiscences a go go - and DP even dusted off ‘Kandy Pop’ especially for the occasion. Cue madness).
Data Panik have kindly contributed ‘Minimum Wage’ to a comp I am releasing on my label, Catmobile. The comp (titled ‘You Can Dance The Dream With Your Body On’) will also feature The Warm, Cowtown, Oh No Not Him and lots of other recent faves. I’m hoping to release it around my birthday in September. More info to follow on the Catmobile site (when I do it up!).

Nerds will be relieved to know that the RSS feeds for the site are now feeding my content , instead of the articles from some random website.

August 10, 2006, 12:52 am : Gig with Metronomy
Courtesy of gojonnygogogogo and Catmobile Records, Printed Circuit will be supporting Metronomy (along with Run Hide Survive and our favourite Leeds band, Cowtown) on Wednesday 11th October at The Brudenell Social Club. Any profits will go towards the ongoing fundraising for a new PA at the venue. (I’m pretty heavily involved with the fundraising - check out the website for more info, and buy a super Brudenell t-shirt while you’re there).
I am VERY excited about this gig, for two reasons. One, Metronomy are undoubtedly one of my favourite live bands at the moment (the others are Dat Politics and Quintron, if you’re wondering). I have been a big fan for about six months and I’m very pleased that we have finally talked them into playing for us. Two, I reckon this gig will mark the beginning of a new phase of PC. All will be revealed, etc.

August 9, 2006, 6:36 pm : New site
Huzzah… pretty much everything from the old Printed Circuit site/s is now alive and well on the new one. Let me know what you think, or if you encounter any design weirdness.
Don’t forget, you can now comment on news entries, and subscribe to updates via RSS. You lucky things.

August 8, 2006, 6:00 pm : CD review in The Wire
My good friend Ricky informs me that there is a review in The Wire magazine this month. I have yet to see it, but apparently I have nothing to be scared of, so I take this as a good thing. This follows very kind reviews in Sandman and the Leeds Guide. When the site is in a better state, I’ll post them all up here.

August 8, 2006, 10:33 am : The Sound of the Wonderful Technique
The second Printed Circuit album, ‘The Sound of the Wonderful Technique’, came out on May 22nd 2006. It features ten tracks, including live favourite ‘banana split’ (featuring vocals from frederik schikowski), and ‘movements’ which features alice kain. here’s the track list:
- continue? y/n

- semi-finals
- movements (featuring alice kain)
- boy genius
- a wonderful technique
- osaka slalom
- computer is my friend
- dr grube vs thinking machine

the CD also features the video (in MPG format) for the song MOVEMENTS.
Norman records kindly said: “trademark 8-bit computer game melodies, synth pop, retro electro, playful melodies and bleeps with additional synths and vocals…if you happen to be human and dig the sounds of Skanfrom, Cylob, Kraftwerk or just quality electronic music in general then what are you waiting for?” which is about right.
