O NOES

I’ve had to drop out of ChHinchillafest on Friday due to some real-life stuff that is taking over my brain. Normal service will be resumed shortly - probably at Lion Power 3 in August (more info soon) and for the Japan/Australia tour.

I was just chatting to someone on Twitter about the video below; I was going to post it a few weeks back and I forgot. So here it is; a totally hypnotic version of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ played on Scanjet and knackered hard drive. NB: I didn’t make this, but if you ever meet the man who did, kiss him on the face.

All over the world part 2

It’s looking likely that one, two or three of us will be making our way out to Japan and Australia in September-October to do some shows. Do you want us to play? Now’s your chance to get in touch, since we have no fixed route in mind and will pretty much go anywhere. Tweet @clairecircuit and let us know.

The newly formed Printed Circuit trio will be making our second appearance at Chinchillafest 7 in Leeds on 5th June. It’s £4 on the door, or £10 for the weekend. I highly recommend a weekend ticket so you can watch Cowtown, Cleckhuddersfax, and Tigers! too. More info lives on Cops & Robbers.

I am threee

See the kiwi? That’s Jon Nash, the third member of Printed Circuit.

Practice is going well. Really, really well. It makes more sense to have three people and it’s bringing out parts of the songs that were always hidden away. Nash is a genius and picks things up immediately which is making the transition from duo to trio painless and fun.

It’s a big deal for me because PC songs are always written entirely by me, and I wouldn’t trust many people to play them live in the way I need them to. Ironically, I’m looking forward to this Printed Circuit gig as much as I looked forward to the first one we did at the Commonplace. If the venue goes under, this could well be our last, and it may also be the end of Funder Strikes, which has become a real staple of the Leeds 6 gig calendar, and has a reputation for being the least pretentious and most fun night in the city.

So please, come along and support the venue. They make their money from the bar, which is cheap, £1.20 a can. We’ll be on at after 11.30 so there will be loads of time to get to the Commonplace from other gigs that are going on the same day. It’s only £4 and it’s open till at least 4am.

It’s a big deal for us, a big deal for FS and a big deal for the venue, so it would be ace to see you all…

Cuz we’re not Dolby Anol

I’m putting Dolby Anol on at Leeds’ irregular mad ravey booze up, Funder Strikes, on 28th March. Printed Circuit will support, so come see our first gig with new member Jon Nash! It’s £4, starts at 10pm, goes on till 4am at least, and DA will be playing for an hour and DJing too. If you don’t have a good time I will eat my hat and yours. Check out the info and buy your tickets now.

I’m also sorting out remixes of ‘Greyskull’ from Dolby Anol and Ben Butler & Mouse Pad, and I’ll be remixing something for DA down the line. Graham and I have been trying organise remix swaps for a long time now, so this news is ultraexciting in all kinds of magical sexual ways. I HOPE ‘Greyskull’ is going to come out on 12″ which is such good news! Honestly, the only thing that could make me happier would be if Dat Politics sealed each copy of the record with a kiss.

If you haven’t heard Dolby Anol, I’ll forgive you as long as you watch the video below as soon as you’ve finished reading this. If you don’t like Dolby Anol, you are banned from visiting my website for the rest of time, srsly.

Brunswick

Last week I got some video of the Brunswick building in Leeds city centre. It’s really near where I work, and some of my friends spent some of their uni years there. Sadly, it’s earmarked for demolition, which is a shame - it’s the most retro-future building I’ve seen in the city centre, and easily worthy of being featured in an Add N To (X) video or something (if only they had been from Leeds instead of Sheffield, I’m sure it would have been).

I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with the vid exactly, but it was all shot on a sunny January day and I think it looks very nice. It’ll be a good souvenir when the site’s been turned into another f-cking block of yuppie flats anyway.

Here’s a picture I took of the Brunswick building that I took in happier times:

Brunswick Building

Right, I’m off to do some more prep for my Max Tundra gig tomorrow. It’s at the Brudenell Social Club and it’s £7 on the door, or £6 advance from the usual ticket sites. Have a peek at this Ben Butler & Mouse Pad video by the way… pretty goddamn good. I reckon it may have been created by Lachlan who illustrated the poster for our Leeds gig. Be sure to set the video player to ‘HQ’.
